The Disciples of Christ Historical Society is pleased to announce the launch of a new and fresh discipleshistory.org. The new website features an updated design and new logo that both reflect the Society’s rich history and embody its vision for shaping the church’s future.
President Joel Brown commented on the need for a website update: “The new discipleshistory.org reflects the Historical Society’s commitment to making our collections more accessible than ever before. The updated website offers users a variety of new ways to not only explore Disciples history but also contribute to it. It is an example of DCHS’s embrace of a digital humanities approach, and we invite you to explore its offerings and join us in preserving and sharing the history of the Stone-Campbell Movement from anywhere in the world.”
In addition to a fresh design, the new website has an improved news feed to help members of the Stone-Campbell movement stay current on the latest news, information, and publications.
An exciting new initiative debuting with the website refresh is Disciples Wiki, a growing online encyclopedia of the Stone-Campbell movement, including key moments, important events, institutions, and notable people. Scholars, seminary students, and lay historians will be able to submit articles and suggest edits to existing articles, allowing the Society and the wider Stone-Campbell Movement to benefit from a broader range of research-based scholarship.
The site also features a new and enhanced storefront where items such as printed books, digital e-books, trading cards, and Historical Society swag can be purchased. Members of the Historical Society receive a discount in the store, one of the many benefits Members of the Society receive for their support.
The new website also continues to connect users to resources they have a long history of utilizing, such as the Digital Commons, the Journal of Discipliana, and guidelines for congregations who are looking to preserve their own history.
