Assisted Research

Conduct research with the assistance of Historical Society staff.

You may conduct your research in person at the Historical Society’s facility in Bethany, West Virginia or remotely by phone or email.

We recommend that whenever possible you conduct your research in-person. We’re able to provide more complete service when you’re at our facility.

Remote research is a benefit of Historical Society membership. Members of the Historical Society congregations within the Stone-Campbell Movement, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) ministries , and the public are welcome to conduct in-person research, with a planned visit. Become a member.

Why Join Us?

Join us in preserving and sharing the history of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the broader Stone-Campbell Movement by becoming a member or making a charitable donation to the Disciples of Christ Historical Society. Your support enables us to study our church’s history critically—celebrating our past as well as telling its hard truths—allowing our history and its lessons to guide us into the future. Together, we can keep the rich stories of our history alive and make them accessible for generations to come.
