Pictured here on the cover of the Christian Woman’s Board of Missions monthly journal Missionary Tidings, Dr. Jeu Hawk pioneered Disciples missions among Asian-Americans in Portland Oregon in 1892. By the turn of the twentieth century, the Stone-Campbell movement had a presence in India, Japan, China, Tibet, and Burma.

In addition to establishing churches and missions, missionaries taught in public and private schools and universities, established hospitals and orphanages and played significant roles in Bible translation projects.
