DCHS Dedicates Allen Family Archival Preservation Wing

News

September 29, 2025

The Disciples of Christ Historical Society dedicated its main archival storage space to honor the Allen family during its September Board of Trustees gathering in Bethany, West Virginia.

The dedication was an opportunity to celebrate a family that has dedicated their lives to the ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and especially to the region that DCHS calls home.

The ceremony included the unveiling of new signage for The Allen Family Archival Preservation Wing, now marked on both floors of the Historical Society’s building—near the viewing window into the preservation wing on the main level, and at the entry doors on the lower level.

Board members, friends, and colleagues offered tributes recognizing the Allen family’s ministry, leadership, and service. In addition to in-person reflections, video tributes from across the life of the church were shared.

Through this dedication, DCHS recognized not only the contributions of the Allen family to the Historical Society but also their unwavering commitment to strengthening the ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in West Virginia and beyond.
