We are pleased to announce that the JSTOR Digital Collections Initiative awarded the Disciples of Christ Historical Society a $5400 digitization grant. The grant, made possible by a JSTOR and Mellon Foundation partnership, aims to help JSTOR Digital Stewardship Charter Program members make more digitized archival and special collections materials available to researchers. The Historical Society will use the funds to purchase a new computer for a scanning workstation and hire a student scanning technician to help digitize National Benevolent Association (NBA) photographs dating from approximately 1900 to 1970. “We are delighted that this grant will enable the Historical Society to better support scholars of Christian social service and a General Ministry partner celebrating its 140th anniversary in 2027,” said President and Historian, Dr. Joel A. Brown. The NBA digitization project will be completed by September 2028.
