The Disciples of Christ Historical Society is pleased to announce the online publication of a finding aid for the AllianceQ Records, 1972-2019. This rich collection documents the origins and development of the Disciples ministry that has supported the LGBTQ+ community since its founding as GLAD Alliance in 1987. Daphne Tennant, a Bethany College history student, contributed to the collection’s arrangement and description during her internship with the Historical Society in Spring 2025.
Materials in the collection include board minutes, correspondence, executive director sermons, educational resources, and a nearly complete run of the ministry’s newsletter, Crossbeams. There are also several objects in the collection – buttons, banners, a t-shirt, and a wooden plaque bearing the ministry’s original pink triangle and chalice logo. Although the collection comprises mainly paper materials and is available only at the Disciples of Christ Historical Society, its born-digital records are accessible online.
We are grateful to AllianceQ for entrusting its records to our care, and we invite academic and avocational researchers alike to explore them.
